Alopecia
Alopecia means “hair loss”. There are over 200 different diagnoses related to hair loss. Only a Board Certified Dermatologist has proper expert training in diagnosis of hair conditions. Dr. Mays performs a full scalp evaluation to determine your diagnosis first. Based on your diagnosis, she will go over the different clinically studied and scientifically backed treatments available. In some cases, a biopsy or additional bloodwork may be needed in order to confirm the cause. Treatments available vary from prescription oral or topical medications, to anti-autoimmune medications, to prp, to hair transplant depending on the type and severity of your hair loss diagnosis. It is important to only see a Board Certified Dermatologist for your evaluation and treatment to prevent further hair loss and possible scarring of the scalp.
