Warts

Warts are caused by the human papilloma (HPV) virus and present in different locations of the body, different sizes and shapes, and different associated virus phenotypes. In certain locations such as genital area, they can be considered a sexually transmitted disease and often carry a slight increased risk of malignancy. Warts can be painful if untreated and spread to other areas of the body. It is important to have early evaluation and treatment by a Board Certified Dermatologist for best clearance, and decreasing risk of spread to other areas of the body. Dr. Mays often combines destructive treatments of the wart with topical prescription medications for best results.
